Prof. Tianshou Zhao (ASME Fellow)

Professor T. S. Zhao is Chair Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Energy Institute at the HKUST. He is an internationally renowned expert in energy engineering and is distinguished for his seminal contributions in the areas of fuel cells, multi-scale multiphase heat and mass transport with electrochemical reactions, and computational modeling. He has published over 190 papers in prestigious journals in the fields of energy science and engineering. He has received a number of national and international recognitions for his teaching and research, including 3 Most Cited Article Awards by Elsevier, the Overseas Distinguished Young Scholars Award from the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the Croucher Senior Fellowship award,, and the Yangtze River Chair Professorship from the Chinese Ministry of Education. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). In the international community, Prof. Zhao serves as Editor of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Energy & Environment Series, Regional Editor of Applied Thermal Engineering, and is a member of the editorial board for more than 21 international journals.
